Summer 2017 is just around the corner! Have you made a decision for your summer experience? One of the best options to challenge yourself is to compete in a triathlon.
Triathlon events are conquering the world as the fastest growing participation sport. Perhaps it`s the challenge of three sports rolled into one event that has enticed people. The basic format is a swim, cycle and run, one after the other, but things can be made interesting by the varying of conditions and distances. Triathletes compete for fastest overall course completion time, including timed "transitions" between the individual swim, cycle, and run components.
All triathlons are not created equal. Races are broken down into four basic distances:
Sprint distance triathlon - 750m/20km/5km.
Olympic distance triathlon - 1.5km/40km/10km.
Half Ironman distance triathlon - 1.9km/90km/21km.
Ironman distance triathlon - 3.8km/180km/42km.

Although the reasons people do a triathlon differ, the benefits are universal. It is a race that gives you the opportunity to get to know yourself and your limits better and to experience the euphorically feeling of conquering yourself. It is a sport that can change your life forever, a sport that you can and must do trough a lifetime. And last but not least it gives you an opportunity to become a part of the community with the same interests and goals, it is a fun social event where new friendships are made and long-lasting, happy memories are created.
