About
The Taunton Flyer Sportive takes place at Smeatharpe Airfield near Honiton, dedicated to supporting SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity. Set amidst the wartime airfields of East Devon and Somerset, participants will cycle through historic locations such as RAF Exeter, RAF Dunkeswell, RAF Upottery, RAF Culmhead, RAF Merryfield, and RAF Westonzoyland. This popular event, which kicks off the season, offers a mix of picturesque flat roads and challenging climbs in the stunning Blackdown Hills. Cyclists can choose from three route options: the Spitfire (37 miles), the Dakota (63 miles), or the Wellington (101 miles). Each route is well-marked and fully supported with amenities like feed stations, outriders, mechanics, and medical staff. Electronic chip timing will provide participants with an official completion time, and a finishers medal awaits at the finish line.
