About this event

One of the capital's best-loved annual events is back this summer. London Nightrider returns for its ninth year on 9 / 10 June 2018. This charity night ride is a unique way to discover the capital's iconic sights and lesser-known attractions. Hundreds of people have already registered for the best night out in London. Nightrider is different to many other fundraising events: it's not timed, it's not a race and everyone taking part can support any charity they choose. Together they are aiming to raise £1 million in one night. Numerous good causes will benefit including Alzheimer's Society, Cancer Research UK, Combat Stress, Marie Curie, Shelter and Tommy's. Nightrider places are still available, but the event is expected to be a sell-out. There are two distances to choose from - 50km or 100km - so there is something for everyone, from novice riders to more experienced cyclists. The 100km route offers a grand circular tour of London while the 50km version focuses mainly on the central sights with the benefit of no hills! The event starts at Lee Valley VeloPark in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park with a lap of the road circuit, before heading onto the moonlit streets. Highlights include Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden, Tower Bridge, St Paul's Cathedral, Canary Wharf, Little Venice, the London Eye, and many more world-famous landmarks and hidden gems. One of the rewards of staying up all night is watching sunrise over the city at dawn. Nightrider offers the chance to have fun, get active and enjoy a Saturday night out with a difference, while doing something positive. The event is popular with friends and family, plus there are corporate packages available so it's an ideal team building event for companies. Felicity Rigling took part in London Nightrider 2017 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. She said: "Lovely, atmospheric ride around the sights of London. The organisation was great, signage excellent and route varied. A most enjoyable night!" Nightrider is organised by leading charity tour operator Classic Challenge. Each route is clearly sign-posted so that Nightriders can cycle at their own pace. There are break stops every 25km plus medical support and mechanical backup are provided throughout the night. Everyone receives a well-earned breakfast and medal at the finish line. The event is supported by Cycle Republic (official mechanical partner) and Virgin Money Giving (official fundraising partner). Nightrider events will also be taking place in Glasgow and Liverpool in 2018. The challenge is open to anyone aged 18+ of average fitness who is prepared to train beforehand. There are two ways to take part: Charity Place - Pay £39 registration fee then raise £175* minimum sponsorship for a Nightrider charity partner (*exact amount set by each charity). Own Place - Pay £99 full event cost then raise as much sponsorship money as possible for any charity. For more information and to sign up visit www.nightrider.org.uk
