The iconic Gateshead International Stadium is the final destination of a closed road course that takes in some of the city's most recognized landmarks, including the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, Sage Gateshead, BALTIC, the Tyne Bridge, and the Swing Bridge. As Tyne and Wear's third largest sporting venue and the only athletics stadium with IAAF-standard facilities in the North East, the stadium has been a host to world-class athletes and events like the IAAF Diamond & Golden League Athletics and the European Cup. Five world records have been broken on the track, and many World Champions and Olympians have crossed the finish line in this very place.
